Fighting Gender-Based Violence on College Campuses

We Help Rockland County’s Colleges Comply with New York’s Enough is Enough Legislation

Under the “Enough is Enough” legislation passed in 2015, New York State has the most aggressive policy in the nation to fight gender-based violence on college campuses.

Legislation Requirements

The legislation requires that colleges adopt a set of comprehensive procedures and guidelines, including a uniform definition of affirmative consent, a statewide amnesty policy and expanded access to law enforcement.  Center for Safety & Change has served as an invaluable resource to Rockland County’s colleges as they develop policies to adhere to the legislation.  The Center has offices on the campuses of Dominican CollegeSt. Thomas Aquinas College and Rockland Community College.

Violence Prevention Training and Outreach

We perform training and outreach at all of Rockland County’s local colleges. With a Center for Safety & Change Coordinator of Campus Services onsite and integrated into the campus community, college students are more likely to seek and receive needed support after experiencing violence.
